I like the scenery in the background, although I wonder whether you could have added more colors, to prevent a white space gap. Otherwise, though, I think it's really good. You did a good job depicting Killian/Captain Hook.

I generally don't like to clutter portraits with too much background, because I wish for the focus to be on the character.

You can sort of see this trend in much of what I do XD
